We're building a destination English-speaking gay resort cooperative in Portugal. Amenities for day visitors, permanent residents, and everything in between.
Think Florida's Sawmill but located in the world's gay-friendliest country[1] and a shuttle ride away from a high-speed rail station[2] for easy access with Lisbon (the world's gay-friendliest city[3]) as well as Porto (the third[3]), Madrid (the fifth[3]), and the rest of Europe.
Pool parties, fantastic food, decadent drinks, exciting entertainment, spa services, and a devilish dick exhibition are a given, but fiber-optic internet, quiet working facilities, a gym, a country that respects your civil rights, and more elevate it further. A place to play, telework, and retire.
Portugal is the premier[4], affordable[5], and feasible[6][7] location for gay expats. Non-lucrative (retirement) visas require an annual passive income of only €10,440 (~$12K)[6][8] while digital nomad (teleworking) visas require €41,760 (~$49K),[7][8] with both providing a pathway to permanent residency.[9] A "golden visa" is also available for individuals who invest €500K (~$587K) in a Portuguese company[10] (might we suggest a certain resort).
United States citizens do not need a visa if visiting for 90 days or less[11] and Portugal is 52.6% cheaper when comparing living in the most populous cities.[12] Climate in some cities are comparable to San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle.[13]
Portugal is ranked 6th for the percentage of locals speaking English as a second language,[14] and major cities, expat communities, and tourist areas are very English-friendly.
